Effect of Exhaustive Exercise on the Changes of Lactate Content of Rat Skeletal Muscle

Abstract
Changes in content of muscle lactate recovering from single bouts of exhaustive exercise were studied in rat. Performing maximal exercise by means of a forced running in a motor driver treadmill at a speed 40m/min for 30 minutes, the muscle samples were obtained at rest and different time intervals in the recovery periods. The lactate content in muscle tissue were measured by Barker and Summersons method
Control value (meanS.E.) for muscle lactate was 15.110.87mg%. At immediately after, 6hr., 12hr., and 24hr. after exercise the lactate content were 51.122.83mg o, 45A6i-4.67 mg%, 15.550.26mg5vo and 6.980.28mg% respectively.
